Onewheel Pint vs. XR:

Which Onewheel Is Right For You?

Onewheel remains one of the most popular motorized skateboards because they offer something for everyone. While many motorized boards are a “one size fits all” sort of machine, Onewheel saw the need to offer multiple price points to give customers flexibility over their riding experience.

Onewheel is offered in two models: Pint and XR, each with unique features that have been engineered to meet rider preferences. In a nutshell, the Onewheel Pint is a smaller model that can go approximately half the distance of the XR, and it has a slightly slower top speed. The XR is faster, has a longer range, can support heavier riders and offers superior offroad capabilities.

Let’s be clear--both Onewheel models are a blast, and they’re the most fun you’ll ever have on a single wheel skateboard. But like most discerning consumers, you probably have budget considerations and it’s important to understand the strengths of each model so you can make the right decision.

Onewheel Speed Comparison

You might be surprised to learn that there isn’t a huge difference between the Pint and XR when it comes to top speed capabilities:

Onewheel Pint

Tops out at 16 mph
The Pint more than makes up for the 3 mph difference with superior maneuverability thanks to its small and nimble frame. Onewheel Pint cuts on a dime, and offers the freedom to cut and carve smoothly even at maximum speeds.

Onewheel XR

Can reach speeds of up to 19 mph
Onewheel XR offers higher speeds and the extra “umph” to give riders control over the toughest terrain. The rugged XR was made to go offroad and offers peak performance on rough or uneven surfaces.

Onewheel XR

Powerful And Tough

The XR weighs in at 27 pounds and just under 30 inches long. The added “heft” gives the XR the power to dominate any terrain. Whereas the Pint is a perfect daily commuter board, think of the XR as your go-to joy ride with the infrastructure to handle any adventure.

Range Comparison

Range is one of the most important factors to consider when evaluating motorized skateboards. The last thing you want is to be stranded miles from your destination without a quick means of recharging. Once again Onewheel leads the pack in performance, with both the XR and Pint offering convenient charging options and respectable range.

Pint Range

6-8 miles with a 120 minute charge time.

XR Range

12-18 miles with a 110 minute charge time.

Onewheel Weight Limit

If weight is a factor for you, you’ll be thrilled to know that both models support the same rider weight. Pint and XR have a weight limit of 275 pounds. Almost unbelievable, right? Well, Onewheel was made to amaze.

The Bottom Line

Budget

At full retail price, the Onewheel Pint is almost half the cost of the XR. If your primary motivation for buying a Onewheel is just for casual joyrides, the Pint offers every ounce of fun at a much more affordable price. The Pint is also ideal for people who are new to motorized skateboards and single wheel boards in general. You can enjoy all of the perks of Onewheel without making a significant investment.

If you’re an experienced rider looking for your next toy, and you have the budget for it, go all in for the Onewheel XR. It packs the power to meet the demands of advanced riders and tackles any terrain.

Weight Limit
Both the Pint and XR support up to 275 pounds. However, riders with bulkier builds may want to opt for the XR to make balancing and steering easier to manage.

Range
If you’re after a long distance experience, the XR can take you there. Onewheel Pint is best for cruising around town and short outings.

Speed
The difference between Onewheels is minimal (16 mph for Pint vs. 19 mph for XR).

Capability
When it comes to capability, the XR can’t be beat. It has the power to traverse any terrain with ease. The Pint is best suited for well-paved surfaces. Don’t count the smaller Pint out, though. It outmaneuvers the XR thanks to its compact size and tight turning radius.
